A few people have been asking about the retractable USB cables I show in the demo pictures of the 9v charger, specifically the PSP one. They're made by a company named Insten, and you can get them in stores for $25.99.
Holy crap, that's a ripoff. I'm an internet thousandaire and even I find that price outrageous, albeit for pretty handy little devices.
I did a bit of digging, and some blind emailing, and I found out that as a "store" I can get them for a lot less, especially if I buy them in bunches. So, as is the way with me, I'll exploit the system to pass the savings on to YOU!(!!!!)
I bought a total of 80 of the retractable usb cables, 60 that will work with iPods (both charging and synchronizing purposes) and 20 for the PSP. If people are interested enough, I'll start carrying them at larger capacities. I think next I'll get some of the mini-usb things that Creative Zens and a lot of other MP3 players use. I can also get cables for charging specific models of cell phone, so if there's one you want, leave a comment to this post and I'll look into carrying them.
For now, you can find the cables here in the store. $10.50 is a lot better than $26, I believe.
The little iPod ones are sweet. I keep one in my backpack and one on my desk, since I don't want to move the $30 cable from Apple (I just leave it connected to the dock).
Since this is the first time I'll be selling physical goods (in the more common sense), I modified my whole store system so I can have inventory on certain items, so when I run out you won't be able to buy them anymore (versus my "keep buying them and I'll keep ordering them" motto with the chargers). Under the "add to cart" button for each cable will be the number of units that haven't been bought up yet. If the number is low, you'd better stop thinking and buy it or you'll miss out.
Also, I never really announced it but I'm sure a lot of people have noticed: when you're checking out, you're given the option to purchase "LineSkipper". This will take your order and bump it up ahead of all the other non-LineSkipper orders. This is so that people who really really need to get their stuff right away can bypass the 2-3 day delay and have their order go out as soon as possible. The price I set for it was calculated so as to keep everybody from doing it, because if everybody was skipping the line there'd be chaos.
That's all for now, I've got to get to a class.
