Upwardly Mobile

Avid readers of my little corner of the inter-cyber-hyper-net-space-web should be aware that I am particularly fond of this view:

So much so that I am compelled to return to it at any opportunity.

Some people might make it their aspiration in life to find a view like this:

But considering my unique history with nature, something like that looks more like this to me:

So I try to stay away, perhaps until find a way to immerse myself in a nature-proof mobile bubble.

The point here, at long last, is that I'm going to Chicago tomorrow. I go about once a year now, so it's starting to become old news, but at least this time I'll be driving in a different car; one that's covered if the engine should fall out. I'm staying at Hotel 71, again, just for that view of the river and because I love waiting 4 minutes for an elevator. Oh, and free internet.

I'm staying until Thursday, which will put me in the city for all of the 4th of July festivities. The Tastes of Chicago Festival is going on all week, which is a big goings-on in the park where every restaurant in the city sets up a booth where you can try out small versions of their food for really cheap. You buy paper tickets from entrance booths, and then at the food booths you trade in tickets for food; three tickets for fried alligator, four tickets for a few ribs, etc. There's music on top of that, fireworks in the park tomorrow, then bigger fireworks from Navy Pier on the 4th.

I feel like I've photographed every angle of the city (downtown at least, and in my mind the city doesn't extend beyond downtown) so I don't know how many photos I'll be taking. You never know, though.
