Does internet culture like plusses?
I've never seen any reference to typographical internet specificities in something mainstream without it seeming trite or awkward, like those local news reports where they try to tell parents about the internet slang their kids are using, and it's a bunch of made-up stuff kids never use.

Remember it. Especially the little interlude between high school and college or whatever you do next. Still living at home, but no responsibility whatsoever.
And try not to think about the significence of a moment while you're in it. That doesn't work. It's like trying to decide if a cake you're eating is the best cake you've ever had. Just eat the cake now, figure out its place in the grand scheme of things later when you're bored and depressed.

I realize now that I haven't really read anything specifically intended for young people since the 6th grade. After that it was all Crichton and Ludlum and standard assigned reading like Bradbury and Ayn Rand.
I never really needed "just for me" books after I'd learned how to read. Maybe I just don't understand them.
I read Little Brother to make sure Cory hadn't psychically stolen any of my ideas, and it was in there that I found an offputting tone. Or maybe I just find the idea of trying to explain public-key encryption to 12-year-olds who a few chapters earlier had to be told how laptops work slightly ridiculous.

This is the case with almost all genre movies. Horror movie victims of course never know that everything they're seeing and doing is cliched (except in the Scream series).
Romantic comedy people never realize everything they're going through has been done to death.
People with mysterious pasts who can suddenly fight and think tactically don't realize it's exactly like The Bourne Identity...

There would be another Earth and another you because the things that led to the Earth and you weren't matters of chance but the product of laws. If the pre-Bang singularity is exactly as it was and if the Bang is exactly as it was, every molecule would go in the same direction and bump into things in the same order.
Decisions you've made in your life are free will, of course, but they're based on your environment and what you know. Given the exact same variables, you would make the same decisions every time. Even flipped coins would turn out the same because gravity and the coin's wind resistence and the amount of force you happened to use in the flip would all be the same.
The only way the universe could be at all different after the crunch is if something were physically different. Failing that, everything that ever happens is governed by the rules of physics.

The resistor is round. You're talking about the resistor.
A 160 ohm resistor connected to a 9 volt battery would put out 8 volts, it just shouldn't for my charger design. You don't even need to be messing with the (round) resistor until you've gotten everything hooked up to the regulator.
#75
Dude. The battery puts out 9 volts, its a 9 volt battery. Putting a multimeter on a 9 volt battery and seeing 9 volts should not appear to your brain as a problem. If it does, perhaps this isn't the project for you.
The resistor (the round thing) is meant to connect to the voltage regulator, which should be putting out 5 volts.
The resistor is just for the LED, not the thing that's supposed to make 5v. You seem to have everything jacked around in your head.
#76

The 160 ohm resistor is selected specifically for the type of LED I'm using in my kit. If you're building your own (making my children go hungry) you'll have to pick the right resistance for the voltage of your LED.

RE: 9v USB Charger 10:21am Tue Feb 21, 2006
The type of battery doesn't matter, all that matters is if it can charge via USB. Every USB port on earth puts out 5.0v, so this thing is as good as a USB port.
#85
No, all the same. Except the Shuffle which you could just plug right into the charger.
#86
In fact, I have one (personally). Just need to find out if enough other people have Treos or later Tungstens.

#89
RE: 9v USB Charger 11:46am Fri Feb 17, 2006
If you get a resistor to drop 9v down to 5v, what happens when the battery starts to die and drops to 8v? The resistor drops it below 5v, cutting off the charge.
A voltage regulator will make ANY voltage above 5v come out as 5v.
#90
namedoesnotmatter: I really don't know the amperage, haven't checked it.
zerosaga: no.
#91
Even if there are 5v batteries (and there must be somewhere), the point of this charger is that it uses a widely-available battery so you can use it in emergencies. They have 9v batteries at every gas station and drug store on earth.
#92

RE: 9v USB Charger 11:54pm Sun Feb 12, 2006
They have USB charging cables for the PSP.
#95
The multimeter is just suggested so you can verify that the proper voltage (5.0) is being put out by the usb socket, but if you wire everything properly it should do that by default.
I got mine from Radio Shack for $20 I think. A nice little compact yellow one that folds open.
#96
The 160 ohm resistor is for the LED, not for the usb voltage.

#120
To build this kit as specified you will need a soldering iron, solder, electrical tape, a multimeter or volt meter, and a container (Altoids Gum tin in instructions, basic project box would work).
#121
Re: Chris Taylor
The 5v regulator I'm using is very consistent in downgrading. A fresh 9v battery will put out a steady 5.000000 volts for a few hours, about 5, and then the voltage started dropping as the battery started to give out (I was benchmarking on a very cheap battery -- a decent Duracel might hold out longer).
I've been unable to find anything that can upscale a current lower than 5v to a steady 5v, but I'm trying to find some kind of setup that will do just that. Most electronics are capable of dealing with a lower-than-spec voltage, but since not everything is, you might want to try to make sure you're using good batteries and arent dragging them to death.

In early history, the only overweight people were kings because they would consume tons of food and just sat in a chair all day basking in their greasy glory. Weight was (and still is, someplaces) a measure of power. The heavier someone is, the less he must have to do and therefore he must be important.

RE: Montag 1:11am Tue Jan 25, 2005
HAHAHAHAHA anyway, cookies can't do anything harmful to your computer. The absolute worst thing they can be used for is so that a website (like bestbuy.com) can track what items and pages WITHIN THAT WEBSITE you look at.
Cookies an only be read by the website that left them.
And they're static, non-executable files. They cant be viruses or anything.
They could be used as "footprints" to see what websites you've been to, but if someone has enough access to your computer to do that -- they could find out worse. And if it's the government you're worried about, your IP address can be used to find every website you've ever visited in your entire life.
In conclusion, don't be scairt. Cookies luv ya.

Regarding my hypocritic ways:
People reading my site are here to read my opinions. I present them, and I take no prisoners (only hostages). And in this case I didn't tell anyone what to think, I said what not to think.
Everybody on the "OMG CANT BELIEVE BUSH GOT VOTED IN" bandwagon isn't thinking, they're just playing follow the leader. Television is all created in New York and LA, both sesspools of democrat pandering, so when the middle of the country turns on Comedy Central and sees John Stewart making "If only Kerry and won" jokes and the audience going wild, they think that's how everyone feels, so they feel it themselves.
In the same way that teens are having sex younger and younger because teen characters on tv shows are starting the trend, thinking it's reality when it's reality they're creating.
Watching TV shows would have you believe that the whole world is a homosexual and anyone who isn't is totally cool with it because they make good shopping friends, but recent polls indicate otherwise. Isn't it odd that all the actors playing these gay people are almost all straight?
"Don't believe everything you see on tv" isnt taken deep enough. People fail to see the line between truth and fiction.

I tried and it ended up at 50MB. I prefer quicktime too, best for in-page embeds.

I know, I tired them with several search engines but the logs don't lie. I think they must be like 20 pages out or something.

Most of the comments here are hers.

Because the page you're on contains the "post comment" data. Environmental variables and such. I'll delete it.

Including all the other forums that are leeching my Snake/Raiden forum image, about 150 unique visitors since the 6th of this month.
Probably about 30 people who actually read the blog. 9 people have registered as commenters.

What white spider things?

Yeah, Spider-Man: The Movie: The Game was alright but the swing physics were just alright. Web didn't actually stick to stuff, you could be higher than all the buildings and still swing around.
Web in Spidey2 needs something to stick to, so if there are no buildings around (or nothing taller than you), you need to start thinking fast. It's just, really hyper omega cool.

A bit of tyranny is expected in a domain of my own creation. I’ve expressed my opinion on ‶hiding on the internet※, and I can deal with it as long as you aren’t trying to drive-by-insult.
I’m fine with criticism so long as you’re man/woman enough to show whose opinion it is.
I am considering switching the commenting system to registered users only, and you’re only giving me more reasons to.
By the way, have the hurricanes been affecting you at all down there?

and then you punch your wife because the beans were cold.
iPod still has the best interface and design. Also, the apple music store is still the best (chomp on it, walmart!)

The worst part of the whole experience is how things are scheduled. The night before the first day of e3 there were press events and parties going till like 3AM, then the show starts at 8AM the next day. You\'ve got to be to the convention center at least an hour before it starts, so you\'ve essentially got to get up at 6am every day.
Last week I was looking through some of the stuff I wrote from the show floor, and I honestly can NOT remember writing most of it and I totally don\'t remember playing the games.
It\'s like a warzone. You get thrown in this strange place with 3 hours of sleep in you, noises coming at you from all sides, and all this amazing stuff being shoved down your throat. There comes a point where you hit your limit and you just snap, walk outside, kick a bunny rabbit, and start calling yourself Admiral Fighat.
Also, too many of the afterparties were scheduled at the same time. Too often I had to choose between 2 or 3 parties. Booooo!

gamespot and IGN can pay their people because they\'re a real company. GS is owned by Ziff Davis Media and IGN was owned by Snowball but snowball turned themselves into IGN Entertainment. They have buildings and leases and wallpaper and janitors. They make money because they charge their users to read their stuff or to download things, and because they can charge thousands++ of dollars for sponsorships because of how many hits they get.
#239
My job doesn\'t pay me period. It\'s a non-profit site and a volunteer position.

I had to pay to fly to e3 and to stay at a hotel, cost over a thousand dollars for a week of lodging in Beverly Hills. The only thing that was free was the entrance
